Not Ghetto Mess
Rob Tillman: Xtrepreneur
The path through life is often a bumpy one. There are few of us who have made it without a lot of mistakes and bad decision making. And while, its optimal to keep yourself out of trouble—its honorable to face your bad decision making, mitigate your damages and turn it around. Too often we see bad circumstances or bad decision-making as a death sentence that crushes our goals and motivation. We use our misfortune as an excuse and a life-time reason to gripe about what we don’t have and what we cant get. But not Rob Tillman.
Almost one year to the day after graduating 5th in his high school class and receiving a full academic scholarship to a major university, Rob sat in a county jail cell.
He had not committed a crime; but being associated with someone that had, put him facing the same fate of a felony record and closed doors of opportunity in his future. At the time he thought, “Wrong place, wrong time, and wrong person.” Later he would find that it was exactly the “Right Place, Right Time, and Right Person” (him).
Though this event would later be expunged from his criminal record, the experience never faded in his mind and would later contribute insight to his interactions with incarcerated adults and at-risk youth. Distanced from that cold jail cell and experiencing escalating corporate success in becoming the head of a multi-million dollar organization, he never forgot how easy it would have been to become another victim of The Cycle without God’s provision of direction, opportunity, and drive. These experiences culminated in the development of Xtrepreneur.
Xtrepreneur provides an alternative to the barriers placed upon those returning from incarceration. In a very conversational and down-to-earth way, it offers encouragement, direction, and inspiration for those seeking to escape or avoid The Cycle.
He has traveled around the globe (literally) gaining a diverse, international background in training, mentoring, and business that enable him to portray the topics in ways that are easy enough for those with limited education, but not uninteresting to those even with a post graduate degree. His insights, personal success in business, and extensive research into the subject matter provide a great backdrop to add strong credibility to the fundamentals presented in Xtrepreneur. His approach is brilliant, pioneering, and would be beneficial in future prisoner recidivism initiatives.
Though often regarded for his business and financial success, Rob takes the most pride in being a devoted husband, loving father, and an active member of his church family.
There are too many men that become tangled with the criminal justice system who are never able to regain their lives and lose all hope and vision. They allow their criminal record to define them. I was so lucky to become aware of Mr. Tillman as he represents the best of the human spirit. No one gets through life unscathed and its such a joy to see someone face their obstacles and not only overcome them, but excel and become a positive example for others. Jail is not a badge of honor, but overcoming it is.
Rob Tillman, thanks for Doing Better.

I am so proud of you. You took what happened to you and realized it as God moving you out of the way; He had something greater for you. And just maybe if you were out on the street it would have been harder for God to get your attention and THRUST you forward. To Him give ALL the Praise!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Outstanding! America DOES work for those who can see the greater good in our people. We are our own greatest resource if we only try to be our brother’s keeper instead of just his adversary.

aint 2pac dead ms faith? maybe you should quote someone who is more succesful than a 2 bit thug…. I didnt say, he tattooed it on himself… just a thought

luvindatkrnbread , of course 2-pac is dead but his words live on. The same as Martin luther king and he was killed the same way,by a stray bullet, remember you can get wisdom from anybody doesn’t matter what their lifestyles are like. One more thing you have to be taught to be a man!!! but from a real man.

That man looks like “The Game’s” skinny little brother! Are they related?

very few comments on something so extraordinary.
and as ‘Bugs’ said above, America DOES work. Its a game. Just have to know how to play it. -
Tupac was NOT the first one who said that…expand your horizons. The quote ’survival of the fittest’ which is a Darwinian quote that has been reworded and repeated many times, on many different platforms, and in many different arenas. Even he probably wasn’t the first to say it…just the most noted.

Tupac was NOT the first one who said those words or gave those seniments…WE MUST expand our horizons. The quote ’survival of the fittest’ which is a Darwinian quote has been reworded and repeated many times, on many different platforms, and in many different arenas. Even he probably wasn’t the first to say it…just the most noted.
We must step outside our boxes and comfort zones which is what this man did by traveling the world and redetermining his destiny. He even wrote a book about it. It is something YOU can do too.

This article was about a brother doing better. We must do better and stop trying to be like crabs bringing each other down. So what Tupac was quoted? So what if you THINK that was a reworded Darwinian Quote(which it is not), why must we use pseudo intelligence to attack each other? Let’s do better!
