Interesting how black folks seem to have such a problem understanding simple terms like overweight. If we see someone who’s a healthy weight we think they’re anorexic. Yet we continue to have the highest mortality rates directly due to overweight and obesity and never figure it out. We’re number one in hypertension, heart attacks, stroke, high cholesterol, cardiac arrhythmia, diabetes and other lethal illnesses (even though we only represent 12% of the population) exactly because we CHOOSE to steep ourselves in denial. The number of people in my own family who have died or at the very least had body parts amputated due to diabetes alone in the last 10 years is ridiculous! But we CHOOSE to keep playing around with words. “Thick”, “chunky”, “big boned”, “solid”, and other ludicrous feel good descriptors continue to serve as handy justifications and distractions from what the real problems are. Meanwhile we keep right on dying at early ages. Sad.
Ok. Lets get back to laughing at the clowns.

I agree with that. She probably does have a better body than most of the people on here but that ain’t sayin much. most black women are obese. She’s just not there yet but its coming from what I see. Unfortunately most black folks can’t see overweight unless the person weighs 200+ As a personal trainer over 16 years I can tell you black women are simultaneously the biggest and the most in denial about it. I couldnt tell you how many times a 220 lb. female come to me to lose weight I ask her how much she wants to lose and they say 15 pounds. Then they come for two sessions their hair get wet and you can FORGET IT!!! LOL!!! I agree with CandiceK the denial is mindblowing.

truck and candace, what you are saying is very true, but do you know you can be skinny and still be unhealthy as well as an “overweight” female that wears a size 20 can be healthy. Yeah, alot of your family members may have caught those horrible problems but it could be because its hereditary. I have family members and close friends that have or came close to diabetes or other problems and guess what they are NOT considered overweight or obese. Example my bff is maybe 120 lbs and she eats more than i do. she will eat her food and mines if i let her. And forget that high metabolism bull because she doesnt do anything, her job is lucky that she goes everday (well not everday but you get what im saying). How many skinny people you know with overweight or obese children? that parent 9 times out of 10 eats the same thing their child(ren) eats. or how many skinny people you know that eats out on a daily basis? (and there is alot of them!)…the point is in order to be healthy its a lifestyle change that EVERYONE has to take apart of not just one particular group.
