  Heard of the saying ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it?’ Rather than go backwards in time, which I don’t think is realistic, we need to ask ourselves why the civil rights momentum was allowed to die down before true affirmative action had taken place. The people we look at in these pictures are in the middle of an era when their rights were the hot political topic. I know people who were ‘right on’ in the sixtes through the seventies, then got all ‘Dynasty’ in the 80’s – wanting to impress with bling instead of brain. Fashion is a brutal dictator, that weak minds listen to.
