What many people do not know that the swastika is a Buddhist symbol for peace. It was given to the Nazis by Japan. So before everybody goes downing him do some research. With that said I still would not wear it simply because most people don’t know it’s true origin.

Well G, you’re right in your assessment, what many people seem to forget is that it’s not so much the symbol but the colors. The symbol itself does have many different meanings, but I have never seen it stand for anything positive in those colors in my 43 years of existence!….so his azz is still wrong for wearing it with a smile, and if we don’t beat him down verbally, he may just take a physical beat down that he might not survive!….ya feel me!

People should be more careful about things like this. You might bump into the wrong person behind something like that. Black or white, it won’t matter. My understanding is that until the Nazis assumed this symbol, the swastika was used by many cultures for 3000+ years to represent life, sun, power, strength, and good luck.
Yet - in recent history, it has been used to represent hatred, violence, murder and death.
I wonder why he chose to wear that particular shirt.

I am fully aware of what the swastika originally stands for… However, Nazis did wear the swastika on a RED armband, and flew a red flag with the symbol… He may be trying to attempt an Andre (Outkast). What you say about the original meaning of the Swastika may very well be true, but the fact that people aren’t aware of the original meaning is no reason not to wear it, it’s because people ARE aware of its PRESENT meaning that you shouldn’t wear it. Words and symbols aren’t given meaning by destiny or any other unseen force. The meanings come from us!! We determine how the masses will interpret things. We’ve been changing the meaning of things for centuries. If I said you were gay, I don’t know how you’d take that but many people would be offended. I’m sure you know that the original meaning of “gay” was just “happy”. Today no one has a problem with being happy, but many people would not be ok with being gay. Even something as contravertial as the word Nigger. 400 years ago it was a term used to debase and animalize black people, today (even though some don’t agree) black people’s trivialising of the word is a step in the right direction, it says to racists “you can no longer offend me with that word (or any word for that matter) I am above that”. So regardless of what the original meaning may have been, we are moved more by the present meaning and that’s why no self respecting human being should wear a Swastika.
