First off I think you all are missing the point I’m not certain but I do believe he re-inacted the ressurection of christ and was literal and passionate and used visual props to make you feel like you witnessed it yourself. I think it was a powerful sermon. They say a picture is worth a thousand words well he just turned the bibles words into living pictures. He just taught them in a different way. It was captivating!Where is this church I wanna go visit.

I get the concept of the sermon and I am into the visual but Jesus was not out in a casket, he was placed in a tomb. He should have wrapped himself in cloth like a mummy and then found a way to get out and keep the form of the body. That is the Resurrection. The casket, flashy showmanship. The emphasis on “He died” is to get it through to you what Jesus did and how great of an act of love that a man would lay down His life for a friend. Yes, we know that Jesus was placed in the tomb. The casket was symbolic of the tomb where Jesus laid and praise God, He rose on the third day. Jesus was beaten, spit on, mocked. They put a crown of thorns on His head and they put nails in His hands and feet. People that were with Jesus in the beginning walked away when you told them that they had to eat of his flesh and drink his blood. People stop following Jesus when He said “you can’t go to the Father but through Me” The people took His words in the natural and not the spiritual. Let’s not judge this, see this with your spiritual eyes and not your natural eyes.

This is no different from Passion of the Christ. It’s his point of view and it’s his way of delivering the message. If you missed it, somehow, the message was He died and then He came back… I think he choose drastic measures because many people don’t understand what it means to “die for someone” that’s the same reason why Mel Gibson stayed on target when he wrote Passion of the Christ.

I am also somewhat disturbed at the method in which this message was delivered but we cannot judge this preacher or his congregation. His preaching style is no different from what you see when you go to watch a play at Easter about the ressurection. It is called an illustrated message, which can be very effective when done properly. As a pastor, the only time you will see me in a casket is at my very own funeral but if his method works for his church and others are truly being saved and is meeting Jesus Christ, who are we to judge. He will one day answer to the real judge, God who will judge us all.

if u can watch plays in church depicting the crucifix/death/burial…..this shouldnt be to much for you. this was resurrection sunday. you only get a clip and the end of the message, so u dont the total context that was preached. god/christ always used visual things to get there message across ie…pillar of fire/ravens/clouds…i could go on and on. so the msg (visually)was the gospel, he died, he rose…. Everything is not for everybody. If you can’t appreciate his style of “preaching”, God still knows how to find you and get you what you exactly what you need. The casket was probably borrowed - that would be my guess. People get in caskets all the time for movies and do all kinds of crazy things. I mean - talk, about playing with God - people shoot movies conjuring up demons, using the Lord’s name in vain and even cursing Him - often time blaspheming that which is holy and we think little of it, if at all. Now - this is not the kind of preaching I enjoy most - it was quite a display. I particularly don’t need that visual (or sound effects) to understand Christ’s death burial and resurrection, but for somebody else, it may have been just what they needed. Maybe God wasn’t in it at all - but I don’t know that. Jesus told parables all the time.
