I consider they’re young, impressionable, and hopefully, changeable. What gets me is when I see adults with long suit jackets with 20 buttons that go down to their pants cuffs, ball caps and headbands with suits, and suit pants that go down around their asses. Sadly, much of it’s “the norm” in the hood. The majority of our young men grow up in households with no real male role model to look to for what a “man” is supposed to be, so they look “laterally” (at their peers and others) for those examples. The results are easy to see. As far as the female in question, I think the same goes. Likely no real male role model in the home, so overly sexual behavior is her way of getting the male attention she direly needs. In that spirit, I’ll give these folks a temporary, conditional pass in the hopes they grow out of this mentality.

i can understand how everybody wants to fit in at any cost, but usually the specter of your misspent youth comes back to haunt you. when your own kids want to know why they can’t wear just a thong to the prom, or why they shouldn’t sleep with their “boyfriends”(you did it),or why you “need” a ring to have babies. there really is no free lunch, EVERYTHING!!! has a price and the cost is much greater when you’re not white.

I think it’s a mistake for parents to think it’s hypocritical to tell their kids right from wrong, because they “did it too.” It’s still encumbent upon us to impart right lessons upon our kids. To not do so is irresponsible.
