What I would like to do today is watch the kids as they go to the High School up the street from me.
What I’m interested in is how many of these young men are still going to wear their pants halfway off their ass. How many will still address the other with the term “nigga”. How many will start a conversation with the other by saying “Yo son”. How many will wear their hair like untamed bushes. How many are carrying NOT ONE schoolbook, but made sure they had their ipod, iphone, etc.
I want to see how many of these young women will call each other “bitch”. How many came to school dressed like they are going to a club. How many will use the roughest, foulest language at the back of the bus. How many will let a young man touch them in any type of way in full view of the public, or talk to them any kind of way.
Most of all, I want to see how many of them will be back in school, when most will be enjoying summer vacation.
Because after last night, when quite possibly the highest and hardest glass ceiling was shattered…these kids have no more excuses. They can’t say that “The Man” or White people held them back. There are no excuses anymore. You rise or fall strictly on what you do.
No more excuses!

History has been made. I thank God my Creator that my eyes and the eyes of my wife and three children were able to witness this event. There is yet a long way to go, but change has come! Pick up your Bible and read the book of Judges 4:4-6 and you will see a name that sounds very familiar.

I have been extremly proud eveyday since the election. Just thinking about my life, with my grandmother and mother, living in the south, the trials and tribulations they went through everyday, how they grew and taught me to be a strong and proud black man, I got emtional doing election night and even now as I think back about my life and how far I have come by the grace of GOD and his will of making and keeping me strong to move past adversity. A) Black People
Our President is black, we no longer have an excuse for the dumb stuff that we do. If this man can rise to become the most powerful person in the Nation then we can too. Get your act straight and do something other than smoke weed and do dumb stuff.
B) Obama “Haters” (aka Those that say he’s a socialist, he’s the next Hitler, blah blah blah blah)
Shut up. Bush was in office four years before people started cracking on him, mainly because his administration systematically destryoed the World’s view of America.
Now Obama comes in, and in four months he mends America’s image (somewhat), rightfully outlawing the use of torture, signed a stimulus bill that will repair our infrastructure and get people working again, told the Auto Industry we’re not going to bail you out forever, Secured our troops coming home from Iraq, and actually had an honest conversation with Hugo Chavez (who in retrospect was probably more ticked at Pat Roberson then Bush if you think about it); and suddenly the man is gonna repeal the constitution?
Get out of here. Stop taking things out of context and take the stick out of your rear. While it is true that America has Judeo-Christian values and background, we are not officially a “Christian Nation”. Our Country has no official religion, so to speak, people are free to worship what they want(thats a story in itself).
I’m gonna make this one last point and then I’ll get off my soap box. President Obama isn’t perfect, no one is. I voted for him but there are some policies (i.e.: Abortion) that i don’t agree with. But I’m not gonna make baseless accusations and slanderous remarks because of it. I’m going to be civil about it with it. On the subject of Bush, well he brought it upon itself with the wiretaps and secret prisons and documentation of a possible repealment of the first amendment ( again, story in itself).
