The vast majority of sistas’ hair has been burned out, pulled out and otherwise destroyed by constant perming and weaving, to the point even attempting to grow any length of hair is futile for most. Yet we still don’t have sense enough to stop the madness. What’s wrong with having the confidence and self-esteem to embrace and maintain our own God-given hair? Why the need to constantly emulate the texture and likeness of the hair of others? Do we need the approval of whites and others this badly?

Like the hair, matches the mustache.

@KendraD… I agree with you! I cannot understand our obsession as African American women with length and texture. It is mind boggling. As a woman with natural hair I am completely comfortable wearing my own hair and am so glad I stopped the relaxer madness. The act of picking up someone’s cut hair off the floor, sewing it to a track on a loom designed for weaving fabric and rugs and THEN sewing it your scalp…or buying a caustic chemically unstable compound and applying it to your hair…to me it is the height of self loathing. The security of length on one’s shoulders in exchange for irreparable damage. It’s sad. I want my man to run his fingers through and smell MY freshly washed hair, not someone else’.

If bangs were designed to cover or accent the forehead, these measly strands have plenty of work to do.

Is that suppose to be baby hair or bangs? I can’t tell.

She needs to bring some of weave to the front!

Preach Kendra and Buffgirl. That’s real talk! More and more sistas are waking up to this, but its been a slow process. Old, destructive habits are hard to break. We’re getting there though.

I can only hope that this is a pic from the EARLY 90′S and NOT 2012! If this is current…2 chops to the throat; 2 chops to the throat!
