 In Highs School  ( 9th grade ) a classmate of mine  named her child J'ai ma'pelle.  Not having went far enought in the school  year to realize she just named her child  My name is.   Poor kid when he'll be learning french having to tell the class my name is Mynameis.  Guess that happens when kids have kids.   SAD SAD WORLD

I went to high school with a girl named Darquerisha (pronounced Dar-cree-sha).  Considering I went to inner city schools, I really didn't find there were a lot of overly ghetto names.  I don't know, maybe I am just desensitized.

My name is Siobhan (pronounced Sha-vonne), which is Irish (Gaelic) and means Praise.
It pisses me off so much to see my name butchered and spelled phonetically.  (i.e. Shavonne)
It takes away from the heritage behind it in my opinion.
People always tell me "You have a black name", to which I respond, "No, I have an Irish name".
